Ministry of Health includes group for HPV vaccine and new HIV medicine in SUS

-

Some new features were presented by the Ministry of Health. One of them is the ministry’s move to include a new priority group to receive the HPV vaccinewhile the other is the act of incorporating a new drug for HIV patients. Now, see the details of these actions:

PRR carriers to receive vaccine

The group of people with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (PRR) was included among those prioritized to receive the vaccine. In this sense, the Ministry of Health stated that the vaccine can function as a complementary treatment, according to studies. In this way, it is possible to reduce the return of the disease in patients who receive the medication.

The reason for this effect is because PRR is caused by HPV itself. The vaccine will be made available via medical prescription. Additionally, anyone under 18 will need parental consent.

New medicine for people with HIV

In that case, the Fostensavir trometamol (600mg) can be purchased from the Unified Health System (SUS) by people who have HIV. Adults who experience multiple resistance to traditional treatment models will be able to use the medicine. The ministry also warns that the criteria for expanding the audience may be reviewed in six months.

The approval of this new medication occurred in March by National Commission for the Incorporation of Technologies into the Unified Health System (Conitec). However, only now will a decree be published, with the drug becoming available in the SUS within 180 days.

Regarding the review of the criteria, some elements will be taken into account, such as the availability of the medicine in stock on the network and the tendency for prescriptions to increase.
