“Daylight Project`24” is the name of the Teatro da Garagem initiative that is taking place in Beringel, in the municipality of Beja. This year, the project has the theme ‘Touch the Ground’.
With the aim of developing practical research on theater, this project is aimed at higher education students and theater professionals from all over the world.
Until April 7, participants are taking part in a research process through practice (field activities, rehearsals and workshops) and the materialization of scenic objects, in an attempt to rediscover touch as an act of transformation.
Alentejo is known for its rural and natural landscape, traditional gastronomy and cultural heritage and, in this sense, the project intends for Beringel to be a source of inspiration and possibility for creative expansion, contrasting with the saturated spaces of large urban centers.
Vítor Besugo, president of the Beringel Parish Council, reveals that the artistic residency has a very important impact on the town.
The investigation will have local activities as its starting point. “Touch the earth, mold the clay, touch the other, touch the sea, touch the time of the breeze of a popular song”.
