A Pediatric Emergency of Viseu Hospital will continue to close at night, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, during the month of April, thus maintaining the contingency plan that was in force in March.

The lack of pediatricians to ensure the normal functioning of the service was the justification given for these constraints during the month of March, a situation that continues and thus obliges those responsible for the Viseu Dão-Lafões Local Health Unit to maintain the night closure at weekend.

The contingency plan will maintain the closure for some periods in order to guarantee the functioning of the various areas of the Pediatrics Service and the Birth Unit of the Gynecology-Obstetrics Service.

The normal operation of the Pediatric Emergency will take place from Monday to Thursday and the External Pediatric Emergency closes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, between 8:00 pm and 9:00 am the following day.

A Pediatrics team is maintained that guarantees Internal Pediatric Emergency for hospitalized children and children undergoing surveillance or treatment in the Emergency Department.

The normal operation of the Birth and Neonatology Unit is also ensured seven days a week and there will be a guaranteed response to pediatric medical emergencies with an immediate risk to life in the Pediatric Emergency Room, even during periods of embarrassment.
