Eagles flew over the Minho people.

This Friday, March 29th, ABC Braga/UMinho hosted SL Benfica at the Pavilhão Flávio Sá Leite. This match counted for the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. The Reds remained ahead during both halves of the match, winning 33-27.

The game started evenly for both sides, with no major goal discrepancy between the two teams. Until, at half-time of the first half, Académico reached a two-goal advantage, 8-6. However, the visiting team responded quickly and took the lead again with three consecutive goals, 8-9 on the scoreboard.

From then on, the Eagles made their presence felt on the scoreboard and reached 11-15. Even before the break, they managed to extend the lead to five goals. Thus ending the first half with the result 13-18, an advantage for the Lisbon team.

In the second half, it was the Minho team who came out better, reducing the advantage to 16-19. However, the red team responded, once again, in the best way. With special emphasis on Capdeville, SL Benfica reached its biggest advantage in the match. 18-27, 9 goal advantage for the eagles.

The Braga fans still tried to respond, but the difference in the score was too big to be able to put a different end to the final result. The game ended, the score was 27-33, the red team emerged victorious from the match.

With this defeat, the Minho team are out of the Portuguese Cup. In the next game, the Braga team will face Sporting CP for the championship. The meeting will take place next Saturday, April 13th.
