Viseu It was the fourth district capital in Portugal where it became more expensive to buy a house in the first three months of this year 2024, according to data from the Idealista portal, which reports an increase of 3.6%.

The platform specializing in real estate points to an average price of 1,093 euros per square meter, while in December 2023 the value was 1,066 euros/m2. More expensive than in Viseu only in Village Real (8.7%), Castle White (3.8%) and Évora (3.8%).

The portal also adds that in 2023 house sales in Portugal fell to the lowest level in the last seven years, which ended up slowing down prices in the housing market.

In January 2015 the average price per square meter in Viseu was 718 euros.

At the top of the most expensive districts to buy a house in the first quarter of this year is Lisbon (4,008 euros/m2), followed by Faro (3,321 euros/m2), Madeira Island (2,965 euros/m2), Porto (2,581 euros/m2) , Setúbal (2,472 euros/m2), Porto Santo island (2,273 euros/m2), Aveiro (1,687 euros/m2), São Miguel island (1,629 euros/m2), Leiria (1,604 euros/m2) and Braga (1,520 euros/m2).

The most economical purchase was in the districts of Guarda (708 euros/m2), Portalegre (717 euros/m2), Castelo Branco (832 euros/m2), Bragança (877 euros/m2), Vila Real (972 euros/m2) and Beja (1,071 euros/m2).
