Each Archpriest will be allocated 4 or 5 days for permanent Eucharistic Adoration to take place in one or more churches (day and night)

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Braga encouraged Christians, lay people and religious, at Mass on Easter Sunday, to participate in moments of continuous Eucharistic adoration in the Archdiocese, with a view to preparing the 5th National Eucharistic Congress that will take place in Braga on 31 from May to June 2nd.

D. José Cordeiro said that this is a “gigantic network of synodal, Samaritan and missionary Eucharistic adoration”, which will cover the 13 Archpriestates in alphabetical order, also crossing with the nuns with a contemplative life.

“Only in worship, only before the Lord, do we recover our taste and passion for evangelization. And, interestingly, we have lost the prayer of worship; and everyone, priests, bishops, consecrated men and women, must recover it: recover that remaining silent before the Lord”, highlighted the prelate, quoting Pope Francis.

Eucharistic Adoration began yesterday – the second day of the octave of Easter – in the parish of Santa Cecília de Ocua (Mozambique), where the Archdiocese of Braga has a missionary team under a missionary cooperation agreement with the Diocese of Pemba, and it will last until the eve of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.

From today until April 6th, moments of Eucharistic Adoration will take place in churches in the Archipresstate of Amares and Terras de Bouro.

Vigil and Eucharistic Adoration in the Archdiocese of Braga

In the preparation program for the Eucharistic Congresses, which will take place in 2024, one of the aspects proposed for the Archdiocese of Braga is, from the day following the First Sunday of Easter until the eve of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ ( on May 30), the involvement of all Archpriests, so that there is continuous Eucharistic Adoration throughout the Archdiocese.

Each Archpriest will be allocated 4 or 5 days, as per the list below, for permanent Eucharistic Adoration to take place in one or several Churches (day and night).

The Adoration began with a Prayer Vigil for the Eucharistic Congresses, published by the National Liturgy Secretariat, at 9pm on the first day, with the Adoration lasting until 9pm on the last, in such a way that when completed in one Archpriest it continues on another and so on. throughout this time.
