Branko celebrates twenty years of career with a unique performance at Coliseu dos Recreios

-

The Portuguese DJ and musician who became known with Buraka Som Sistema took to the stage in this Lisbon venue at the culmination of a national tour.

It all started in 2004 with the 1-Uik Project and the album Strategies and Survival – at the time, João Barbosa was Lil’John and was accompanied by Kalaf. The sound referred to jazz, funk, hip-hop and samba, with the concept being to create an album in a week (1-Uik is a declension of ‘one week’, ‘one week, in English ‘).

Two years later, Buraka Som Sistema and the EP ‘From Buraka to the World’ (later released as an album) appeared, with João Barbosa as Branko. Over the last ten years, the DJ and musician has pursued a solo career and released several works under his label, Enchufada.

©Enchufada | Soma is Branko’s most recent work – it was published in March this year.

Among Branko’s standout solo works are ‘Atlas’ (which also became a program for RTP, ‘Club Atlas’), ‘ Nosso ‘ and ‘Soma’, from 2024. In between, there are collaborations with Sara Tavares, Mayra Andrade, Plutónio, Dino D`Santiago, Teresa Salgueiro, Ana Moura and Conan Osiris.

To celebrate his twenty years of career, Branko takes to the stage at Coliseu dos Recreios on November 28th (8:30 pm), in what will be the epilogue of a national tour. Tickets have a single price of 28 euros and can be purchased here.
