Anabela Freitas, vice-president of Turismo Centro de Portugal, highlighted the increase in the region’s notoriety, during the opening of the XX ADHP Congress – Association of Hot DirectorsYou are from Portugal, in Aveiro.

Anabela Freitas, vice-president of Turismo Centro de Portugal, emphasized, in Aveiro, the growing recognition of the region at an international level, evidenced by the awards that its campaigns and promotional films have achieved around the world. The statements were made during the opening session of the XX Congress of the ADHP – Association of Hotel Directors of Portugal.

“The film we screened at the beginning of this session was awarded an award last week in Japan. This clearly demonstrates that the destination of Central Portugal extends far beyond the borders of our country. It is, in fact, a region that has grown immensely in notoriety”highlighted Anabela Freitas, who recalled the “7.9 million overnight stays” and “464 million euros in total revenue” of tourist activity in the region in 2023. “We want to continue this consistent upward trajectory”he added, before reaffirming Turismo Centro de Portugal’s commitment to positioning the region as a recognized sustainable destination: “We are working to overcome the challenge of sustainability, anenvironmental, social and economic levelomic. Hot directorsthose present at this congress are fundamental pieces so that we can take on this process of transformation”.

The 20th ADHP Congress is taking place at the Aveiro Congress Center and its main theme is “Pillars of Hospitality and Tourism”. In addition to Anabela Freitas, Fernando Garrido, president of ADHP, Francisco Calheiros, president of the Confederation of Tourism of Portugal, and José Ribau Esteves, president of Aveiro City Council, spoke at the opening session.

Throughout the first day of work, congressmen addressed some essential issues for tourist activity, in two discussion panels dedicated to the themes “The Impact of the ‘Event-Brand’ for the Destination” (with Pedro Machado, president of ARPT Centro de Portugal, among other participants) and “Pillars of Value in Hospitality”. The second day will include three more panels, on the importance of training, trends for 2024 and the importance of aviation in the destination.
