Resulima, responsible for the treatment and recovery of urban waste in the six municipalities of Vale do Lima and Baixo Cávado, recorded a strong increase in the selective collection of packaging (plastic, metal, paper, cardboard and glass) in 2023, an increase of 9 % compared to 2022.

This growth resulted in the collection of more than 18,850 tons of paper/cardboard, plastic/metal and glass.

“Greater participation by citizens and investment, over recent years, in vehicles, containers, facilities and environmental education, has allowed Resulima to increase the amount of material sent for recycling”, says the company.

“It should be noted that in the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Barcelos, Esposende, Ponte da Barca, Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo, containerization was reinforced, as well as human resources allocated to selective collection. These are investments made in recent years and integrated into the application financed by the Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources (POSEUR)”, he adds.
