Viana do Castelo: Chamber approved protocols for cultural development worth 375 thousand euros | Newspaper C

The Viana do Castelo City Council approved today, in an executive meeting, ten cultural development protocols with various cultural entities in the municipality and two cultural development program contracts with Ao Norte and Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana .

The protocols aim to support associations in their various activities of a social, cultural, educational, recreational nature, etc. Thus, with ACEP – Associação Cultural e Educação Popular, support was decided for areas of intervention such as the children’s library, the toy library, the science experimentation center and the educational resources center, as well as extended cooperation with gardens. childhood and schools in the municipality.

With the Music Academy, the protocol takes into account that this is the only institution that teaches basic and secondary music courses, recognizing that teaching music involves costly human and material resources, so the support serves to continue the strategic project to expand and consolidate increasingly widespread access to musical training and the enjoyment of this art by Vivian residents.

A protocol was also approved with the Centro Cultural do Alto Minho to support the organization of activities, editing of publications, among others. With Casino Afifense, the protocol is intended to support a series of activities and events and different areas, essentially promoting education, culture and recreation.

As for ZEPAM – Zé Pedro Associação Musical, the protocol is for the city’s various entertainment events, namely concerts, shows and participation in popular marches. With the Banda Velha of the Casa do Povo de Barroselas, the Philharmonic Band of the Social and Parish Center of Vila Nova de Anha, the Banda Escuteiros de Barroselas and the Musical Association of Vila Nova de Anha, the aim is to support the work carried out within the scope of musical area and the increase of musical culture and rooted in the cultural tradition of the region. The City Council also approved a protocol with the Association of Folklore Groups of Alto Minho to promote traditional culture.

At the meeting, a cultural development program contract was also approved with Ao Norte – Audiovisual Production and Animation Association to promote events such as film club sessions, the image workshop, the implementation of the Schools in Grande Plano project, the Documentation Center and the Encontros de Viana – Cinema and Video festival.

With Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana, the contract aims to continue projects to develop cultural habits and artistic enjoyment of citizens; stimulation of children and youth audiences, qualification of contemporary art on offer and the affirmation of Teatro Municipal Sá de Miranda as a cultural hub in the local, national and international context.
