Decenter brings to Escudeiros a cultural program dedicated to the 25th of April

Escudeiros is the next destination in the Descentrar cultural program, with a day full of activities for all ages dedicated to the 25th of April and freedom. Visual arts, theater and a concert dedicated to the songs of April fill the program for next Saturday, April 6th.

From 11 am, at Multiusos de Escudeiros, the Plastic Arts workshop “Carnations” will take place, by CEA – Artistic Education Cooperative (with Mi Martins). In this workshop, young participants analyze their perspective on the revolution and reinforce collective memory through the symbolism of the carnation. How do I see April 25th? It is the motto for creating a composition of monotypes, with cutting, gluing and using various techniques and materials. At the end, they take their illustration home to share with their families and friends. Targeting children and young people, the initiative has a limit of 15 participants.

The cultural day continues with the theater play “Laughter at Entardecer”, by Nómada Centro Artísticos, at 4pm. The scene tells the story of Rosalinda and Dolores, two friends who meet again in old age. They carry in their hands the experiences of life and in their memory the baggage of time. They talk about the love of the past, of the village dancers, of their youth, of sardines on dripping bread, of lefties in the crackling fireplace and of their mothers’ songs. They talk about the rosy cheeks after a stolen kiss, the flying potty, the adrenaline and fear. They talk about living under a dictatorship and what the role of freedom is now. They sing songs from other times to fend off this unwanted guest that is age.

Descentrar ends its stay in Escudeiros with the concert “Cantar Abril – Canções com História”, by Canto D’Aqui, at 9:30 pm, also at Multiusos.

Remembering all those who sang and promoted, through music, the Revolution of the 25th of April 1974, a historic landmark of the Portuguese Republic, is the objective of this concert, which will take the public on a musical journey, through the day before, and the post April 25th. The Canto D´Aqui Group invites the entire public not to forget the fantastic legacy of those who, with songs, marked their position at an important turning point in Portugal. On stage, Zeca Afonso, Adriano Correia de Oliveira, Vitorino, Fausto, Sérgio Godinho, among other friends, whose emotions persist today, will be remembered.

After Escudeiros on April 6th, Descentrar heads to Mire de Tibães on April 20th. On May 4th, Descentrar goes to the parish of Cabreiros and in June the cultural program takes place in triple doses: on the 8th, in Lomar; the 15th in Sobreposta and the 29th in Fradelos. On the 13th of July it goes to the parish of Crespos and on the 27th of July to Nogueira.

After a short break, Decenter returns to Adaúfe on September 21st. In October, there will be a lot to discover and explore dryland, on the 12th and in Espinho on the 26th. On the 2nd of November, Culture goes to Tebosa and in December, there will be decentralization on the 7th in Tadim and on the 14th in Merelim S Paio.

It should be noted that Decentralar is not just a program, but a cultural decentralization movement that seeks to strengthen cultural democracy. Through transformative artistic practices, it aims to impact territories, increasing their visibility, and transforming visitors’ experience, reinventing the narratives associated with each place.
