It was announced in 2016 and included the planting of more than 700 trees, a 13-hectare urban park, a water channel, a lake and pedestrian and cycle paths. The idea was to connect, through a focus on green, Campolide and Alcântara to the Monsanto Forest Park and the riverfront through a three-kilometer corridor on Avenida de Ceuta.

However, “the completion of the Avenida de Ceuta Project Unit affects a territory that currently has several interventions planned by different entities, including Infraestruturas de Portugal, Metropolitano de Lisboa and Águas do Tejo Atlântico”, the which “determined the review of the project”, informed the Lisbon City Council (CML), cited by the Lusa agency. Therefore, “it is not possible, at the moment, to determine the completion date of the Avenida de Ceuta Project Unit”, he highlighted, in information that had already been provided to the newspaper Public in March.

According to the CML, the green corridor project includes six project units, of which “five are completed and in use by the population”: in Bairro da Liberdade, Campolide Station, pedestrian cycle connecting the Águas Livres Aqueduct to Calçada from Quintinha/Calçada do Baltazar, Quinta da Bela Flor and underpass to the beltway and from the south to connect Quinta da Bela Flor to Avenida de Ceuta.

One of the projects planned for this area is “a new railway viaduct over Avenida de Ceuta”, but works related to the Lisbon Metro also interfere with the green corridor plan, which “involves an investment by CML of 5.8 million of euros”, indicated the municipality.
