The fourth vessel stranded at Praia Grande, in Ferragudo, called “Thor”, will be removed next Sunday, April 7, the day on which the tide will be most favorable for carrying out the operation, announced the Lagoa City Council.

This will be another attempt by the shipowner to remove this larger vessel. The operation will be assisted by a tugboat from the Port of Sines.

Yesterday, the 3rd, three of the four boats that were stranded on the beach at Praia Grande were removed, in an operation conducted by the Municipality of Lagoa, which is now the entity with jurisdiction over the area.

The operation had the support of the Port Authority of Portimão and the collaboration of the owner of one of the vessels, using a private company.

Thus, the three stranded sailboats were removed, two at the end of 2023 and another that ran aground last week, as a result of the storms that have occurred in recent months.

The Lagoa Chamber asked a private company to remove the 7.90 meter vessel “Lady Stray”, and the 9 meter vessel “Bitten”, apparently of Swedish origin, whose owner could not be identified.

The removal of the 11 meter sailboat “RAN” was requested by the owner and carried out in the same operation carried out yesterday.

This operation required extra care, having been carried out by a specialized company, coordinated by the Municipality of Lagoa and accompanied by a team of professional divers, with a Maritime Assistance & Rescue Base next to the Clube Naval de Portimão.
