Oliveira do Hospital celebrates April 25th with concerts, exhibitions and lectures

Concerts, exhibitions, literary moments, lectures, artistic activities and educational moments for children are part of the program for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April in the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital.

The official celebrations of the 25th of April in Oliveira do Hospital start on Wednesday night, in Jardim Oliveira Mano, with the concert “Cantos de Abril”, with Sara Vidal and Rogério Cardoso Pires.

On Thursday, the official ceremonies for the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution begin, at 9:30 am, with a rally around the city, by the Fanfarra and Escolinhas dos Firefighters Voluntários de Oliveira do Hospital.

At 10:00 am, in the Town Hall, the flag will be raised with the interpretation of the National Anthem and, at 10:30 am, the Solemn Session of the Celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the 25th of April 1974 will take place, in the Main Hall of the City Hall.

In the afternoon, Largo Ribeiro do Amaral hosts the Municipal Philharmonic Meeting, while next to the Café Central space it is possible to visit the exhibition “25 de Abril de 1974”, by Alfredo Cunha, from the Mário Soares Foundation.

On Friday, the film “Salgueiro Maia – O Implicado” is shown at the Casa do Povo in Nogueira do Cravo.

On Saturday, music will be highlighted, with the “Concerto da Liberdade”, with the Sant’Ana Choir, Orfeão de Vale de Cambra and Grupo Coral de Maçainha, in the Salão Nobre dos Firefighters Voluntários de Oliveira do Hospital.

On the same day, in Penalva de Alva, the XII Musical Soiree – Special Liberdade will take place, with Tuna Recreativa Penalvense and Coral 7 de Setembro.

The Miguel Calhaz concert is scheduled for Sunday, as part of International Jazz Day, which will take place at Espaço Café Central.

“Sons of April – Readings and Songs of April with Rafael Abrantes” is the musical moment that follows, on April 30th, at the Biblioteca Ludoteca de Lagares da Beira.

According to the municipality, the Municipal Library of Oliveira do Hospital and the Biblioteca Ludoteca de Lagares da Beira have a program taking place this month that includes dramatizations, staged readings, short films and exhibitions.

“Physical activity and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle are also included in the April 25th Celebrations Program in Oliveira do Hospital, with walks, basketball, motorbike rides and football gatherings”, he says.

The program of the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital that evokes the freedom of April will continue “until the end of the year, with activities to be announced”.

“The months of May and June include the viewing of films, round tables of conversation, exhibitions, the staging of a Human Carnation, on the 30th of May, and the Popular Marches of Oliveira do Hospital, which in this year’s edition, on the June 15th, are based on the theme of the 50th anniversary of April 25th, 1974”, he informs.
