More than 500 elderly people will join the initiative of the Centro Social Paroquial de Rio de Loba, which wants to provide “an original, different and active afternoon” to users of 35 institutions in the district. Matinee takes place on May 8th at the Mamma Mia dance club

The Mamma Mia dance club, in Viseu, will welcome 500 elderly people on May 8, Mother’s Day, in a matinee that promises to be “exciting”. The initiative is from the Centro Social Paroquial de Rio de Loba, which wants to provide “an original, different and active afternoon” to users of 35 institutions in the district.
The party takes place from 2:30 pm and in a “relaxed and friendly atmosphere”, according to the organizers.
“We are going to provide a great day for our seniors, but also for seniors from other institutions. For us, it makes perfect sense that these activities are shared and exchangeable. When we think about something, we like it to be accessible to the greatest number of users of ours and other institutions”, says the note from the Rio de Loba Social Center.
This is the second time that a meeting of this kind has been organized, the first being held in 2019 at The Day After, which welcomed 900 elderly people. The Rio de Loba Social Center invited around 100 institutions from across the Viseu district to join the initiative.
Mamma Mia was receptive to hosting the event, which, in addition to being fun, also aims to “mobilize the elderly to maintain physical exercise, being more autonomous, healthy and active”.
“An afternoon full of entertainment and a good atmosphere is expected, which will certainly mark the lives of the elderly who participated in this mega social activity, some of these seniors will even be going to a nightclub for the first time”, concludes the Centro Social de Rio de Loba .
