The Portuguese entrepreneur born in South Africa – who had indicated his desire to run for President of the Republic in 2023 – says that his candidacy is “centered on ‘Portugality’”.

Businessman and investor Tim Vieira will launch the online platform for collecting signatures on April 25 to formalize the race for the 2026 presidential elections, a source linked to the candidacy told Jornal Económico.

The Portuguese entrepreneur born in South Africa – who had indicated his desire to run for President of the Republic in 2023 – says that his candidacy is “centered on ‘Portugality’”, stating a “commitment to growth, solidarity, social responsibility and the preservation of democratic values”.

“I am running because I believe that the values ​​and unique characteristics of the Portuguese should be the engine of change and innovation in the country”, says Tim Vieira in a note that will accompany the official announcement and to which Jornal Económico had access.

The campaign’s digital platform (which will only be online from April 25th) – www.timvieira26.pt – will serve as a “point of interaction with the public” and collection of the necessary signatures. Furthermore, the businessman intends to raise non-monetary donations from the population. In other words, the entrepreneur is available to accept work contributions, especially from professionals in areas such as graphic design, social media management, video production, event organization, web design and the legal area.

“The challenges we face as a nation require a new type of leadership, one that deeply understands the values ​​of our culture and that invests in our capabilities, our entrepreneurship and innovation. Together we are Portugal, together we will be the heart of change”, highlights Tim Vieira in the same note.

According to his own website, Tim Vieira started his first business in 1993, when he opened a brewery in South Africa. Currently, he highlights, “he has investments in Angola, Mozambique, Ghana and Portugal” in various areas and startups. The businessman is also associated with projects such as “Be Brave” (an association that helps entrepreneurship, especially providing mentoring to entrepreneurs).
