A fire broke out in the early hours of this Wednesday, April 24th, in an industrial area, more precisely in a textile dyeing factory, in the parish of Rego, municipality of Celorico de Basto.

The alert was given at around 5:45 am and the Celorico de Basto Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene with eight vehicles and 25 members.

The commander of the Volunteer Firefighters of Celorico de Basto, Fernando Gomes, said that the incident “No injuries or significant damage resulted, just a boiler and some insignificant material”.

Fernando Gomes also explained that they received “an alert from the Tâmega e Sousa Sub Regional Command for a fire in an area where some incidents have already occurred, which leaves some concern. The place is approximately 17 kilometers away, on a winding road. We used all resources and considered the need for vehicles with water from other corporations, but when we arrived at the scene it was possible to control it with our own resources, even though it had already reached a high temperature”.
