The mayor of Aveiro, Ribau Esteves, reported at the last municipal assembly that two companies still without investments in the municipality are “checking opportunities for new housing projects at controlled costs”.
These “two operations” are still in an embryonic phase but, if they move forward, they will join other projects already advanced in the area of affordable housing. The mayor recalled that 320 homes are under construction in Aradas, on the initiative of the company Encobarra, with the presentation of the model floor coming soon. On the other hand, the chamber has “now closed” another 48 homes with the company Casais, in Aradas and Santa Joana.
The city council itself will “soon” launch a public tender for the construction of around 100 houses at controlled costs on municipal land, next to the former São Bernardo mental health center. Another public investment, in this case through the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU), is underway for the former lands of the Luzostela factory, on the edge of the Esgueira viaduct, where a project with a total of 100 homes will be built.
