Entroncamento marked the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974 with a solemn session, with elected officials speaking about 50 years of freedom and democracy, and with a representative of the Young Municipal Assembly speaking for the first time. Poetry was joined by music, with Pedro Dyonysyo presenting the theme “The Story that one day will tell”, an original composition by him.

Largo José Duarte Coelho, in front of the Town Hall, was the stage for the solemn session that marked the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974, with the reception of guests by the president of the Municipal Assembly, Luís Filipe Antunes and the president of the Chamber, Jorge Faria. This was followed by the raising of the flags by the Volunteer Firefighters to the sound of the National Anthem by Orfeão do Entroncamento, who also performed themes evocative of this date.

The formal session took place with interventions by representatives of the Municipal Assembly, namely Carlos Monteiro (Independent), Bruno Melo (CDU), Pedro Gonçalves (CDS), Maria do Céu Carvalho (BE), Carla Sarroeira (CHEGA), Susana Vieira Cruz ( PSD), Pedro Gomes (PS), the president of the City Council, Jorge Faria, and the president of the Municipal Assembly, Luís Filipe Antunes.

This year, the solemn session counted for the first time with the presence and intervention of the representative of the Municipal Youth Assembly, Sofia Almeida.

The solemn session also featured cultural notes, with the recitation of the winning poems of the poetry competition “O 25 de Abril de 74”, promoted by the Municipality in partnership with the Cidade do Entroncamento School Group, and a musical moment by Pedro Dyonysyo with the theme “The Story that one day will tell”, an original composition by him about April 25th.

Also this Thursday, the exhibition “April Posters: celebrating every year” was opened at the Municipal Gallery, an exhibition that will be on view until May 16th, and, to conclude the celebrations, the Cineteatro S. João hosted, at the end of the In the afternoon, the show “Song – Revolution”.
