The requalification project of the Botanical Garden It’s from Passion Forestspaces surrounding the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Praces, affected by the fires of October 2017, was inaugurated this Monday, in Vale de Maceira.
The project to restore the gardens surrounding the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Preces, affected by the fires that devastated the municipality of Oliveira do Hospitalwon, in 2018, the 10th edition of the Vilalva Prizefrom the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Prize of 50 thousand euros
The prize, worth 50 thousand euros, given to the Irmandade de Nossa Senhora das Preces, in Vale de Maceira, allowed the recovery of the landscape heritage, with the conservation of the gardens surrounding the sanctuary located in the heart of Serra do Açor.
At the public presentation ceremony of the new natural space, the mayor of Oliveira do Hospital, José Francisco Rolorecalled the “painful and traumatic moment” that Oliveira do Hospital experienced with the great fire of 2017, which devastated 98 percent of the municipality’s forest surface.
