Rui Rosário had been working at Vodafone for 14 years when he decided to leave his secure job to dedicate himself to something he always loved: cooking. With no time to waste, he decided to learn from the best and went on internships with chef Henrique Moura. Later he realized that he needed to specialize and that there was one cuisine that made him more excited and curious than the rest, Japanese.

In 2018 he left for Japan to train at the Tokyo Sushi Academy. She lived three intense months in the capital of Japan and learned a lot about the local cuisine, while absorbing the country’s culture. When she finished, she did not return to Lisbon. She flew back to Luanda where the family lived and became one of the private chefs at Private Chefs Angola. He later opened Omakase, a small counter that served just seven people and was “even frequented by the Japanese ambassador to Angola”. At the time he dedicated himself to the country’s traditional cuisine.

Two years after finishing his training, Rui Rosário and his family returned to Lisbon. In 2022, the journey continued in the Japanese space of Praia do Parque and, in the meantime, the invitation to open a space in the busy and renovated 8 Marvila appeared. To be able to deliver the best to customers, in 2023 he returns to Japan to intern in two restaurants to improve the preparation of sushi and kaiseki, in the busy Ginza neighborhood, where he interned with a Michelin-starred chef.
