The “Turn the Page” project marks the milestone of half a million meals served. After the creation of this food emergency response in Braga, with the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, this solidarity chain of work did not interrupt its service for a single day, accounting for 500,000 meals served.

“The numbers are impressive and show that we have always been missed in our city. Unfortunately, the reality is worrying and we cannot give up”, says Helena Pina Vaz, about the Virar a Página service that has become “indispensable, in the map of emergency social responses in the municipality of Braga”.

Virar a Página continues its community awareness campaign, constantly attracting help and volunteers, reinforcing this solidarity chain that has been filling empty plates in Braga for four years now. “There are many people in need of help and requests for help, which you want to be as momentary as possible, arrive constantly”, assures the Virar a Página coordinator.

“So we can’t help but spread the word about what we do and show enormous gratitude to those who keep this machine running”, they explain.

The Virar a Página coordination seeks daily to gather and mobilize volunteers and supporters around this movement. They ask for help and donations of all kinds, food, time, sometimes little, but which “many generously make available to this wave of solidarity”, financial support and even containers, essential in the daily task of filling many empty plates in Braga.
