“The Metro starts here, invest in Serpins”, is an idea that came from the Executive of the Council of this Parish in the municipality of Lousã, who recently placed a billboard, next to the D. Manuel I roundabout.
The main objective of this initiative is to appeal to entrepreneurs or individuals to invest in the parish. According to the president of the Parish Council, Paulo Simões, “we have as an example the company EFAPEL, which invested in the parish and currently has around 500 workers”. “This is an example that in Serpins we have qualities in several sectors and with the arrival of MetroBus it will certainly be a contribution to revitalizing the local economy and also an increase in population”, he says, adding that “it is the desire of the Serpinense executive to see housing growth, local commerce, restaurants and industry”.
It should be noted that the Mondego Mobility System will be 42 kilometers long, connecting Serpins, Lousã and Coimbra, and is expected to begin operating at the end of 2024.
Located on the banks of the Ceira river, approximately 9 kilometers from the town of Lousã, the parish of Serpins is one of the oldest population centers in the municipality.
It has a public primary school and kindergarten, fire department, CTT, pharmacies, minimarkets, ATM, butcher, restaurant, gas station, services and industry. Furthermore, the parish is rich in communities ranging from sport to culture.
In terms of leisure, as an example, the parish has a picnic park located in the Praia Fluvial da Senhora da Graça complex, the Cabril throat, Açude do Boque, the wastelands of Sobral that include species with decades of history as well as landscapes about the parish.
Regarding accommodation, the Parish has a Camping Park and several local accommodation units.
