Tourist activity in Portugal records new growth in March

-

Tourism grew again in March and, at this rate, this year is expected to break records after 2023 was the best ever.

After the pandemic, Portugal has achieved records in tourism revenue. First it was in 2022 and 2023 broke the record again, having been considered the best year ever in tourism.

For now, the question remains whether or not 2024 will break records again, but the results from the National Statistics Institute have been encouraging. In the month of March, 5.7 million overnight stays were recorded in Portugal and 2.3 million guests, two increases of more than 12% when compared to the results of February.

Overnight stays from residents grew by more than 10% and overnight stays from non-residents increased by almost 14%. British tourists arrived in the largest numbers in March. But what makes Portugal an attractive destination? Those who choose the Portuguese territory as a holiday destination say they look for good weather,
the food and the sea.

The Portuguese have also been traveling more within the country or abroad, where they have sold out trips at the various agencies spread across the country.
