Albufeira City Council will hold six clarification sessions, on the 10th and 14th of May, about the Tourist Tax applied in the Municipality, particularly regarding how it is charged and paid.

The morning actions start at 11 am and run until 1 pm, for those responsible for the hotels. In the afternoon, those responsible for local accommodation will be divided into two groups, one for the session from 2pm to 4pm and the other for the session from 6pm to 8pm. These sessions will take place at the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium.

This initiative is taken at a time when exactly today, April 30th, it was published in Diário da República that the entry into force of the Tourist Tax would be on May 2nd. However, informs the president of the municipality, José Carlos Rolo, regarding Albufeira, “it is suspended until the 20th of May, as some constraints have arisen in the use of the payment computer application, with the start date of the collection, May 21st”.

According to the mayor, although Tourism promotes economic and social development, “it also implies an overload of public action and the provision of municipal services itself, which is why it is essential to have a capacity to respond to the growth in demand, as well as assume the best strategies to enable the development of a sustainable, adequate and infrastructured environment”.

José Carlos Rolo adds that the Municipality of Albufeira intends to invest in projects relating to the following areas of activity: accessibility and enhancement of the coastline, actions in the context of climate change, sustainability and mobility, support for relief and emergency forces, health support, cultural heritage and promotion of cultural and sporting activities, tourism promotion, tourism enhancement actions, maintenance and conservation of infrastructure in tourist areas and development of new tourism products.

The information sessions are free, but registration is required for organizational purposes, so confirmation and choice of the day and time of the session are requested via email: [email protected].
