Between Freedom Day and April 28th, Fontainhas hosted the X Balasar Regional Gastronomy and Crafts Fair, which, among others, brings together various associations and entities in the parish.
The official opening was attended by the Vice-President of the City Council, Luís Diamantino and the President of the Parish Council of Balasar, José Araújo, who visited the fair and were able to taste some snacks made on site, by hands with knowledge of the tradition at the table. Portuguese.
But, every day and every night there were many regional dishes, roast pork, rojões, bread with chorizo, steaks and lots of drinks to satisfy the appetite and the soul. At the fair it was also possible to visit several ‘stalls’ where handicrafts, sweets, sausages, and other decorative wonders, it was possible to buy.
The entertainment featured the Oliveira Santa Maria Concertinas Group, Tertúlia Valasarense, the Soul Dance dance group, the Santa Cruz Group and the ‘Blanc Moda e Acessórios’ Fashion Show, with the special participation of Matilde Semblano, Miss Póvoa 2023. On Sunday, early in the morning, a Cãominhada was held with the registration funds going to a local association. In the middle of the afternoon, the folklore tradition took to the stage with Rancho Poveiro, Rancho Folclórica de S. Pedro de Rates and Rusga Típica da Correlhã.
