Pombal Chamber supports renovation of the ARCUDA fieldPosted at 2:19pm

Pombal City Council approved, at its last executive meeting, granting the Associação Recreativa Cultural Desportiva de Albergaria dos Doze (ARCUDA) financial support for the renovation of the synthetic turf at Campo Vale das Éguas, worth 85% of the planned investment.
The support was granted following an application by ARCUDA to the Pombal Municipality’s Artificial Lawn Renewal Plan and after an analysis carried out by a multidisciplinary technical team, set up for the purpose, and which considered it to be an urgent intervention.
That lawn at Campo Vale das Éguas is around two decades old, having been the first installed in the municipality, and currently has some deficiencies that prevent the practice of sports, mainly due to the lack of safety conditions for athletes, aged from 5 years (Petizes) up to 59 (Veterans).
With the Artificial Lawn Renewal Plan of the Municipality of Pombal, the City Council intends to significantly improve the conditions in which thousands of young people have undergone and continue their sports training and, in this way, define the criteria relating to the support to be given to sports clubs with aimed at renewing the synthetic lawns in its sports spaces, which, according to technical and specialized opinions, should have an average lifespan of 10 to 12 years.
For the Mayor of Pombal, that document, within the scope of which clubs will be able to submit their applications to replace their artificial grass pitches, “creates a rule that provides for the municipality to support 85% of the value, for the requalification of one lawn per year, in a huge investment”.
“It was important for the clubs to know what they could count on, but the support will always be deliberated by the Chamber with the technical analysis of the investment”, says Pedro Pimpão, highlighting that in this way the clubs will be able to “work and do calculations with a view to obtaining funds to other sources of financing”.
The Municipality of Pombal continues to focus on improving the municipality’s sporting infrastructure, asserting itself as a territory that encourages and values the promotion of physical and sporting activity.
