Minho has 25 Blue Flag beaches, one more than last year. The largest number is in Viana do Castelo (11), followed by Caminha (5), Esposende (4), Braga (3), Fafe (1) and Vila Verde (1), it was announced today. All of Minho’s winners last year maintained the Blue Flag, and the new feature is the inclusion of Amorosa Sul beach, in Viana do Castelo.
In Viana do Castelo, the Blue Flag beaches are as follows: Afife, Arda (Mariana), Paçô, Carreço, Praia Norte, Cabedelo, Amorosa Norte, Amorosa Sul, Luziamar, Castelo do Neiva and Ínsua (Afife).
Caminha once again raises the Blue Flag on five beaches, one of which is river: Forte do Cão, Vila Praia de Âncora, Moledo, Caminha and Azenhas – Vilar de Mouros.
Esposende maintains the distinction on four beaches: Apúlia, Fão-Ofir, Suave Mar and Marinhas-Cepães.
Braga once again saw the beaches of Adaúfe, Ponte do Bico and Merelim S. Paio stand out.
Fafe will raise the Blue Flag in Albufeira da Queimadela and Vila Verde on the river beach of Faial, in Prado.
This year, the Blue Flag will be raised on 398 beaches in Portugal (four more than last year).
