Between today and Sunday, Praça Camões, in Bragança, hosts the Crafts Fair, with 68 exhibitors from all over the country, the majority from the district.
The famous cantarinhas are also represented, with traditional ceramic ones, namely those produced by Maria de Lurdes, and more current ones that keep up with the times, recreated by the architect Mário Ortega. “Our brand works with wood and this wood cutting technique, and we think that the tradition and the way of doing it is on the verge of extinction, so one of the ways to preserve it is to innovate. That’s why we have tradition as a starting point, but transform and innovate for a new song that we hope will become a new symbol of the fair, the city and the region”.
In addition to the chanterelles and other ceramic crafts, there is also Mirandese embroidery, rag dolls, musical instruments, masks and clothing items for children and adults, and much more.
The Feira das Cantarinhas, the best known in Bragança, takes place between Friday and Sunday and has around 400 exhibitors spread across the historic center of the city and in the weekly fair area.
