Positioning the country as a global center for maritime transport and logistics is an increasingly relevant actor in the European and global energy transition, this is the objective of Portugal Shipping Week, whose 2024 edition takes place between the 6th and 10th of May.

The main setting will be the Port of Lisbon, with this third edition of the event including initiatives focused on the decarbonization of maritime transport and ports, as well as the way in which various agents – from governments, to port authorities and the maritime community in general – are preparing to respond to this challenge.

Thus, over the course of a week, the event provides shipowners, foreign managers, energy suppliers and representatives of all maritime disciplines the opportunity to develop new commercial relationships with leaders in the Portuguese maritime and alternative energy sectors, as well as with the main international actors.

On the first day, training on alternative fuels takes place at the Escola Náutica Infante D. Henrique, followed by the celebration of the school’s 100th anniversary. Also on this day, the headquarters of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), in Lisbon, organizes the Training Workshop on Emissions Implications.

On May 7th, it will be Gare Marítima de Alcântara’s turn to host “Flagship”, the most emblematic conference of the meeting, dedicated to maximizing commercial potential and adopting the green economy.

The panel of speakers includes the president of the Board of Directors of the Ports of Lisbon, Setúbal and Sesimbra, Carlos Correia; the Greek ambassador to Portugal, Vassilis Papadopoulos; the Danish ambassador to Portugal, Lars Steen Nielsen; and the Head of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Jakob Jurczyk-Bäumer.

Also at Gare Marítima de Alcântara, on the 8th and 9th, the ship.energy summit takes place, integrated into the EISAP Shipping Forum. Thursday is dedicated to a visit to the Port of Lisbon, namely the Yilport Container Terminal and the Lisbon Cruise Terminal.

On the last day of Portugal Shipping Week 2024, participants visit the Port of Setúbal and the Lisnave Shipyards.

This third edition of the event is organized by Petrospot, in partnership with the Administration of the Port of Lisbon, the Administration of the Port of Setúbal, the Association of Ports of Portugal, the Association of Shipowners of Portugal, Euromar, Galp and Escola Náutica Infante D Henrique.
