Leiria wants to create an Association of Relatives and Friends of Users of Mental Health Services at the Local Health Unit of the Leiria Region (ULSRL).

In this sense, the social service challenges the community and its professionals to raise awareness and collect registrations for the creation of that entity, which will take place on Tuesday, May 7th, at 11 am, in the auditorium of the Hospital de Santo André (HSA), in Leiria.

The 2021 legislation (decree of law 113) establishes the general principles and rules for the organization and functioning of Mental Health services and defines the competencies, composition and functioning of the Local Mental Health Councils, a local advisory body, highlighting that, this body must be composed of “a representative of user associations of the respective local Mental Health service and a representative of family associations”.

“Under this legislation, it is very pertinent for all of us to create an association that integrates family and friends of our users of Mental Health services, not only for legal reasons, but for all the support, support and dynamics that they can provide within and outside the doors of ULSRL”, admit Sílvia Mendes and Sandrina Lopes, mentors of the initiative and social workers at the Psychiatry and Mental Health Service at Leiria hospital.

The session features the participation of Joaquina Castelão, president of Associação Familiarmente, and Filipa Tróia, social worker at the Regional Mental Health Coordination.

Entry to this event is free, but requires mandatory registration, which can be done via the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1PCO3tQ9iZyIprG08vHIqWyU7vJ5FhMBaEjB8DVRxd-I/viewform?edit_requested=true
