The JAP Group is now the important official of the Chinese Foton for Portugal. The first electric light commercial vehicles are expected to hit the market later this year.
Reinforcing a partnership already present in several African markets, the JAP Group and Foton International agreed on an exclusive partnership for the Portuguese market.
Under the agreement, the JAP Group will assume the import, distribution and technical assistance of the Chinese brand’s electric light commercial vehicles.
“This partnership is an important milestone in our sustainability strategy and reaffirms our commitment to innovation and leadership in the electric mobility segment”, highlighted Jan Oehmicke, administrator of the JAP Group, cited in a statement.
“The partnership with the JAP Group represents another important step in the implementation strategy of PHOTON in Europe. We are confident that, in the near future, we will be able to gain leadership in the electric commercial vehicle market in Portugal and contribute to the global carbon neutrality policy”, said Wu ZongTian, vice-president of Photon International.
Foton was founded in 1996, is headquartered in Beijing and claims to be one of the fastest growing brands in the world.
The JAP Group encompasses brands such as Carby, Matrizauto or Sixt Rent-a-Car.
