Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, spoke this Tuesday, after André Villas-Boas took office as president of FC Porto and guarantees that he will not resign from the club’s SAD at this time, as that “would be negative for the team”, but that after the Portuguese Cup he will do so because “he is not attached to the position”.

“Resignation? We are complying with statutes. I am not asking for resignation in the interests of FCP”, says the former president, adding that his presence at the Oeiras Stadium, in the Portuguese Cup, “will be an incentive for the club to win”.

In “tribute to all the athletes who in these 42 years have filled FC Porto with victories, I will be symbolically at Jamor. I will be on the bench, as a sign of strength, a sign of unity, so that we can win the cup”, he says.

Regarding the challenges of the new direction, he states that “pfinancial art is always a challenge for anyone at any time.”

“He set the tone high by saying that next year we would be champions. That’s what we all wanted and that’s why I was fighting. I hope that FC Porto will be champions for its members”, he says. He adds that the fans wanted change, and so he hopes it is for the better.”

As for the praise given to André Villas-Boas, upon taking office, he states that it was “just a pro-forma, something predictable”.
