“If bowlada had disappeared 50 years ago, there would be no one who knew how to do it.” Course encourages preserving this and other heritage

Bowlada is one of the many examples of cultural and intangible heritage, in this case it is gastronomic, that if it had not been preserved by the hands of those who continue to make it in the most varied forms, it could have been lost, as there are no people today who know how to make this delicacy that There is no shortage of it on the home table of most Oliveirenses, especially on festive occasions.

It is precisely with the aim of preserving traditions, oral expressions, social practices, rituals, practices related to nature and the universe and skills linked to crafts that, on the 16th of May, will take place in Oliveira do Hospital the course “Food, Heritage and Territory” promoted by the University of Coimbra, in partnership with the municipality of Oliveira.

Paula Frade, who is part of the Culture and Tourism office of the Oliveira do Hospital City Council, is one of the trainers of the short-term action that is promoted by the University of Coimbra and an advocate for the preservation of cultural and intangible heritage.

This morning, on Rádio Boa Nova’s Manhãs program, Paula Frade highlighted the importance of preserving heritage and challenged them to participate in the course that equips trainees with the necessary tools for this area. Registration is open until May 10th.

Oliveira do Hospital is the first CIM Coimbra Municipality to host the course, which will then cover the remaining municipalities.

The accreditation of the Food, Heritage and Territory Accreditation course will be the responsibility of CFAE Coimbra Interior, certified by the Pedagogical Commission of CFAE Coimbra Interior.

The course will take place between 10am and 5:30pm, with a free lunch break and will take place in the Noble Hall of the Oliveira do Hospital Municipal Council.
