In the shade of the trees at Manuel Braga Park, co-workers and friends gather for lunch and dinner. Last weekend’s rain did not deter lovers of the northern delicacy from going to Manuel Braga Park.

The sun of the last few days has caused some queues at the Porto-style Francesinhas stalls. The president of the Union of Parishes of Coimbra (UFC), João Francisco Campos, gives the RUC a positive assessment of the initiative.

Next weekend, the Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere predicts maximum temperatures of 25 and 26 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Although the forecast for Sunday is around 22 degrees Celsius, the UFC president has already arranged for tables to be reinforced to satisfy diners.

According to the UFC president, traders chosen to be present at the Festival das Francesinhas must comply with quality requirements and follow the rules of the delicacy, a specialty of the undefeated city.

The positive balance of initiatives such as the festival leads João Francisco Campos to promise a summer with more initiatives and with something new such as the Sardine Festival also taking place in Parque Manuel Braga in June.

A Madeira Festival will take place for the first time at Terreiro da Erva. In July there will be “the biggest inflatable festival in the country” at Manuel Braga Park.

At the Festival das Francesinhas, for ten euros, you are entitled to a snack accompanied by fries and a drink.
