“’Immaculata’ is a scary film with a spunky heroine, an irreverent and controversial twist, and just the right amount of narrative ambiguity to give viewers something to discuss”he said Manohla Dargis from the New York Times.

“What follows is a film that is quite effective at generating sudden scares, and while none of them are complete frauds like, say, cats in closets, many of the convent’s supposed dark secrets simply go nowhere.”he said Luke Y. Thompson by ComingSoon.

Don’t forget to watch:

“It’s a breathtaking climax. If only the rest of this confusing mass of nocturnal film were worthy of it.”he said David Fear from Rolling Stone.

“With a stunning performance from Sydney Sweeney as its centerpiece, the bloodshed is not only welcome but cathartic, a whimsical critique of religious patriarchy with a memorable ending that reaffirms the good news: the “nunsploitation” genre is back , Dear”he said Jen Yamato from the Washington Post.

“’Immaculate’ has the appearance of something mildly spooky in the vein of nun films, but is willing to go much further – helped by a committed lead performance – than your typical haunted convent image.”he said Kim Newman from Empire Magazine.

“An entertaining if uneven horror film cut from a slightly different cloth than its religious brethren, with a captivating performance from its star”he said Stephen Saito from Variety.

“The biggest flaw lies in the film’s narrative structure and character development, especially in how Sister Cecília interacts with the horror that unfolds”he said Valerie Complex from Deadline.

In addition to starring, Sweeney also takes on production alongside Black Bear and Middle Child Pictures.

The film, directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel.
