Actor Scott Adkins liked the film with Jake Gyllenhaal, but he has a very important criticism of the remake on Prime Video.

The most watched film currently on Prime Video is Killer for Hire, a new version of a classic action film from the 80s. Despite its success, the film with Jake Gyllenhaal is not generating unanimity among lovers of the genre, to the point of its action scenes have already been criticized by a star of John Wick 4: Baba Yaga.

Scott Adkins brought Killa to life in the excellent film starring Keanu Reeves, but the truth is that he has been in countless action films for many years – we could also see him in The Expendables 2 or The Grandmaster 4. He has also seen Matador de Aluguel, a film that I really liked, but with one important drawback:

I really liked Hire Killer. Doug Liman – great job subverting the genre and Gyllenhaal in an incredible way, respect! What a debut from Conor McGregor, I’m happy when a movie like this does well because it’s my bread and butter, but come on, what’s with the CGI fight scenes? Patrick Swayze didn’t need that

The truth is that many action films use digital retouching to achieve a greater degree of spectacularity, but the result is not always the best. In the case of Matador de Auguel, the criticisms have been numerous, although there are also those who really liked that special touch that it brought to the most spectacular scenes.

However, Adkins wasn’t particularly impressed by it, to the point of bringing up another action film as an example of how to use digital retouching well:

For those impressed by the new Hitman fights, let’s not forget that Johnny Nguyen did this in 2006’s ultra-low budget The Rebel. It surprised me when I realized it. When used in moderation, it can have an incredibly impactful effect.

Adkins himself talks more about that little-known Vietnamese production directed by Charlie Nguyen in this episode of The Art of Action dedicated to Johnny Nguyen.

Remake of the film Hitman that was released in 1989 and starred Patrick Swayze as a bouncer in a rowdy bar. In this new version, a former UFC fighter (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a security guard at an inn in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is as it seems in this tropical paradise.
