‘Hellraiser’: Producer confirms reboot SEQUEL is in development

In an interview with ComicBookthe producer Keith Levine confirmed that it is developing a sequel to the reboot of ‘Hellraiser‘.

Although he did not reveal many details, he stated that the director David Bruckner (‘The Ritual’) is involved in the process, indicating his return to helm the new film.

“We are having conversations about a possible sequel [para o reboot]. I can’t reveal too much, but director David Bruckner is involved in these discussions. We spent a lot of time and energy rebuilding that universe. We took great care in creating the design of the new Cenobites, and since then we have learned a lot.”

He completes, “Now that we’ve decided all this, I believe a new film should be even more insane and incredible. We are definitely working on a sequel, and hope to have news soon.”

Previously, Bruckner had commented on a possible sequel: “We’re waiting to see the public’s reaction, but we don’t know yet [se a sequência irá acontecer]. We hope there is a future for this saga, but we still have to see. I never imagined I could be part of the ‘Hellraiser’ universe. I was very lucky to be able to drive [o reboot].”

Starred by Jamie Clayton (‘Sense8’) like the iconic Pinhead, the new version conquered 67% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

In the plot, we follow a young woman who struggles with addiction and comes across an ancient puzzle box, without knowing that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.

The original film, released in 1987 and directed by Clive Barkerrevolved around an unfaithful wife encounters her dead lover’s zombie, who is being chased by demons after he escaped his sadomasochistic hell.
