In an interview with IGN, Fede Alvarez (‘Death of the Demon’) commented on the connection between the coming ‘Alien: Romulus‘ and the classic original franchise.
Although the new iteration is an independent story, the filmmaker assured that he will not disregard the previous films and promised that fans of the saga will be satisfied with the references in the production.
“This film can be seen without having watched the other features in the franchise. But, if you are a fan of the saga, you won’t be able to stay silent in the theaters. You’ll be that person saying, ‘That scene is an homage to that movie, and that character said that for that reason.’ You will be able to point out several things that connect the new film with the previous chapters, be it the narrative, technology or the characters themselves.”
He completes, “We really try hard to keep everything legit and not contradict anything [em relação aos filmes anteriores]. This franchise is very special to me, and I know how incredible it is to see these references to something I love. This film was created for fans of this saga. My goal was to deliver what fans really wanted to watch [nas telonas].”
The film will be released in national cinemas on August 15th.
