According to the actress, only the director’s involvement Greta Gerwigbest known for her recent success with Barbiecould make the experience minimally pleasant.
“It feels like a fucking nightmare, actually,” confesses Stewart. “But maybe the world will change. If Greta Gerwig asked me to do a Marvel movie, then I would.”
Known for her independent projects, the director has a solid track record in building deep stories about femininity even when working with major franchises. Thus, if the filmmaker eventually works with Marvel Studios, her project would be more similar to something more authorial, like Eternalsin Chloe Zhao.
After the resounding success of Barbie, the possibility of a project signed by Gerwig with a superhero theme is not null. The filmmaker confessed that she would consider it, depending on the character in question, and that she is interested in big-budget projects. Gerwig’s next big work is the reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia to the Netflix.
