HBO Max has just revealed a new trailer for “The Sympathizer”, its new bet that will feature Robert Downey Jr. playing several roles.

Owner of a varied and complete offer of series and films, original or not, HBO Max is one of the streaming platforms that the Portuguese public most appreciates. Its archive content includes the most popular sagas in the world (“Harry Potter” and “Lord of the Rings”) and several classic films that did very well at the Oscars. On the television side, there is room for some of the most awarded series in history (“The Sopranos” and “Game of Thrones”).

Something very positive is that HBO Max never stops reinventing itself and continues to expand constantly, with the weekly addition of the best films and series with all audiences in mind. In March, the platform premiered projects such as “The Regime” and “The Girls on the Bus” and the films “Wonka”, “The Night Train to Lisbon”, among others.

Now, HBO Max is already preparing its bets for the month of April and when it comes to miniseries, there is already “The Sympathizer”, a production that promises to surprise. At its center is Hollywood star Robert Downey Jr. who is experiencing one of the best moments of his career. After playing the iconic Iron Man in recent years, Downey Jr. is focused on exploring new records.

“The Sympathizer” is the actor’s first project on screen after winning the Oscars in the Best Supporting Actor category thanks to his performance as the Machiavellian Lewis Strauss in “Oppenheimer”. This new HBO Max series will also be another opportunity for the actor to prove his versatility, as he will appear in the shoes of several characters throughout the plot.

Based on the novel of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen, comes “The Sympahtizer,” a spy thriller and cross-cultural satire about the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his new life as a refugee in Los Angeles, where he discovers that his spying days are not over yet.

In addition to Downey Jr., the miniseries “The Sympathizer” features Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Toan Le, Phanxine, Vy Le, Ky Duyen, Kieu Chinh, Duy Nguyen, Alan Trong and Emmy nominee Sandra Oh. By Behind the camera, the team is equally talented, as multi-award-winning director Park Chan-wook (“Oldboy”) takes on roles as showrunner and executive producer alongside Don McKellar.

“The Sympathizer” has seven episodes and arrives on HBO Max on April 15th!
