Actor Ryan Gosling blamed the success of ‘Angry Birds – The Movie’ (2016) for the failure of one of the films he most enjoyed making. The 43-year-old star lamented the failure of ‘Dois Caras Legales’ (2016) at the box office and said that the public’s lack of interest in the work made it impossible to produce a sequel.

Both ‘Angry Birds’ and ‘Two Nice Guys’ were released on May 20, 2016 in the United States. While the animation made US$39 million in ticket sales in its first weekend in theaters, the film with Gosling and Russell Crowe only US$11 million.

Despite being praised by specialized critics, ‘Two Nice Guys’ left theaters having made just US$62.8 million in ticket sales, costing US$50 million. ‘Angry Birds’ made a box office gross of US$352.3 million, having cost US$73 million.

Gosling spoke about the failure of ‘Two Nice Guys’ and the success of ‘Angry Birds’ in an interview with the ComicBook website. He recalled that the film with him ended with the suggestion of a possible sequel. However, the sequel did not happen.

“I think a lot of a sequel depends on how a movie goes. [nas bilheterias] on its opening weekend,” explained the actor. “And then we opened against ‘Angry Birds’. So ‘Angry Birds’ just… Just destroyed us. ‘Angry Birds’ got a sequel.”

‘Two Nice Guys’ stars Gosling and Crowe as detectives working to investigate what appears to be a conspiracy involving big names in the porn industry.

Gosling gave the interview in the midst of his work promoting ‘The Stunt’ (2024), a production directed by David Leitch in which he stars alongside actress Emily Blunt. The film shows the heartthrob as an action film stuntman who finds himself involved in investigations surrounding the mysterious disappearance of a movie star.
