Russell Crowe, best known for his role in Gladiator (2000), will once again face the supernatural in a new horror film. Titled as The Exorcismthe preview was released by Vertical this Thursday (25), giving more details of the production.
For those in a hurry:
- Directed by Joshua John Miller (When Darkness Comes), The Exorcism will follow Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to face strange events while playing a priest in a horror film;
- In addition to Crowe, the cast includes Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce;
- The film premieres on June 7th in the United States — with no date scheduled for Brazil.

It is worth remembering that Crowe comes from another recent horror production that was relatively successful: The Pope’s Exorcist (or The Vatican Exorcist), from 2023. The production grossed more than US$77 million at the global box office and, for those who don’t know, it was based on facts — the story of an Italian priest who became the most sought-after exorcist in the world, according to a BBC News report.

It is not possible to talk about Crowe without remembering, of course, one of his biggest successes, Gladiatorfrom 2000. The film received a sequel that is scheduled for release on November 22nd of this year.
Although the production does not feature the protagonist, it will have the presence of other important characters, such as Connie Nielsen, who will reprise her role as Lucila. The new plot will take place 25 years after the events of the first film.
