Rivals, a feature film by Italian director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), starring Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor, has finally arrived in Brazilian cinemas.

Rivals, the new feature film by Italian director Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), has just arrived in Brazilian cinemas. And it is possible to say that part of the public interested in watching the film may have come both from the positive reviews that attribute characteristics such as “sexy” and “intense” to the work, and from the buzz surrounding the extremely popular figure of Zendaya (Dune 2 , Euphoria) in a provocative “trisal”.

But, at least for Zendaya, this promotion, despite being able to bring more people to the cinemas, is still “very strange”. Questioned by the content creator Jake Hamilton (From the YouTube channel Jake’s Takes), regarding the much-discussed kiss scene in the trailer, between the three protagonists, Zendaya confessed some discomfort with this “viral” label that the film ended up receiving:

I don’t know if it’s because they want it to be something viral, I don’t know. But I noticed this, specifically with me […] I feel like other actors don’t… if it was anyone else here, you probably wouldn’t have asked that question

However, the actress recognizes that “it’s part of the job”: “It’s a completely normal part of the job, despite, I think, maybe other people’s perception of our work. But yes, it’s strange” she confesses (Via: The Hollywood Reporter).

“Idiot” and “Monster”: This is how the former star of The Crown defines his character in Rivals

Rivals follows Tashi (Zendaya), a tennis player who, by becoming a coach, transformed her husband, the mediocre player Art (Mike Faist), into a world-famous champion. But at a tennis tournament, the couple meets Patrick (Josh O’Connor), Art’s former best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend. The encounter may be able to reignite old rivalries on and off the court.

Rivals is showing in cinemas. QueroCinema has already seen it, and you can check out our review here.
