Manchester United lost, this Monday, to Crystal Palace by 4-0 and complicated the calculations for access to European places, at a time when three games remain to be played. Ten Hag’s team added the 13th defeat of the season and achieved a new record for defeats in a single Premier League seasoncompetition in force since 1992/93.

You red devils They had already recorded 12 defeats in 2013/14 and 2021/22, but now they have reached a new record, in a season to forget and which, if they finish below 7th place, could be even more disastrous.

Despite these numbers, Erik ten Hag spoke to journalists after the meeting and expressed confidence in turning the situation around, praising an improvement in results from the first to the second half of the season.

«I will continue to fight and I prepared the team as best I could, but it wasn’t enough by far. I have to take responsibility for this, but I will find the energy and I will prepare them for the game on Sunday [frente ao Arsenal]. We’ve had huge problems all season – and so far we’ve had four defeats this calendar year, that’s not much – and on several occasions, we’ve resolved them. We didn’t do that today,” he said after the meeting.

As for the game, which ended in a heavy defeat, Ten Hag admitted that the team was not up to the task: «It was clear and obvious. We weren’t competitive, we didn’t act the way we wanted and it wasn’t enough. We are very disappointed, but the fans supported us and we continued to fight, just as they did. There are always reasons and everyone saw that our defensive line has huge problems. At the end of the day, we have to deal with it and we should have done better,” he added.

Remember that Erik ten Hag is in his second season at Old Trafford. So far, the record is 110 games, 63 wins, 17 draws and 30 defeats in all competitions. In the Premier League, the numbers are: 73 games, 39 wins, 12 draws and 22 losses.
