While it is common for superhero films to feature several adjustments to their protagonists’ uniforms in relation to the comics, Deadpool & Wolverine promises to be quite faithful in this sense. A 3D visual effects artist decided to go beyond what Disney showed and added Logan’s classic mask to the yellow uniform he will wear in the feature film.
On his personal account on X/Twitter, Taran Singh showed how, using only visual effects, he managed to completely transform the way Hugh Jackman appears. Instead of having his face uncovered, Wolverine presents a mask that is very faithful to the one that made him popular in the comics.
Deadpool & Wolverine may have a mask appearance
While Singh’s work raises some issues involving reflections and shadows, he is effective in showing that the character’s full costume would work in theaters. According to the artist, he couldn’t fully recreate the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer due to the way certain scenes were shot.
As he had to work on finished images, it would become very complicated to quickly apply special effects to some of them. It is worth noting that, technically, the special effects artist did not work very differently from professionals hired by studios.
Although many superhero films still use practical effects, most of them still create masks and other uniform details completely digitally. While masks are an important part of the characterizations of heroes in comics, in films it is common for them to be removed so that the actors’ faces stand out.
Officially, Disney has not yet confirmed whether or not the iconic part of Logan’s costume will be in Deadpool & Wolverine. While There are rumors that she may appear briefly, or in the form of an Easter eggthe company has been quite efficient in keeping some of the feature film’s secrets for its premiere.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be for everyone
According to director Shawn Levy, you don’t need to have a good knowledge of the Marvel universe to enjoy the new film. In an interview with the Associated Press, he stated that he has a lot of respect for the original material, but he doesn’t want the public to have to do “homework” to know what’s going on.
Showing a story involving multiverses, Deadpool & Wolverine will feature the villain Cassandra Nova as the main antagonist. Charles Xavier’s aborted twin sister, she promises to be an opponent capable of challenging the limits of the two protagonists’ healing factors.
