Planet of the Apes: Reign is the newest installment in this classic franchise – and it’s helmed by the same director as Maze Runner.

Planet of the Apes: The Reign arrives soon in Brazilian cinemas, and promises to cause a turnaround in the franchise. In addition to establishing a crucial bridge between the new saga – which began with Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) – and the classic film series (from 1968), it was revealed that the new villain of this installment will be responsible for breaking one of the most important rules of the Planet of the Apes universe.

Reign takes place 300 years after the end of the War for the Planet of the Apes – portrayed in War for the Planet of the Apes (2017). The death of the leader “Caesar” left a huge hole in the ape society, and also the need for new leaders. Hence, new “Caesars” emerge. And in Planet of the Apes: Reign, the monkey who holds power will prove to be an extremely authoritarian creature.

“Monkeys don’t kill monkeys”

In Planet of the Apes, many ape societies have grown since Caesar led his people to an oasis, while humans have been reduced to surviving and hiding in the shadows. Despite being responsible for the safety of the new generation of evolved primates, many are unaware of Caesar’s achievements.

And it is in this new scenario that the new monkey leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while the young monkey Noa, who saw his clan being captured, embarks on a journey to find freedom, with a young human girl being the key to everything. .

Planet of the Apes 4 is set 300 years in the future: All information about the theatrical release, plot, trailer and cast of The Reign

Monkeys don’t kill monkeys (Ape Not Kill Ape) is one of the three rules that Caesar established in the previous trilogy. However, it is already known that the “Caesar” of The Reign will consciously break this rule. According to information on the website ScreenRantextended footage from the film shown at CinemaCon, reveals an attack on the village of Noa made under Caesar’s command – and part of the fight results in the death of an ape.

By breaking such a fundamental rule, this character already proves to be a very dangerous villain – and not at all like the “real” Caesar.

Directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner), Planet of the Apes: Reign opens on May 9, in theaters.
