For the attention of Star Wars fans: “The Phantom Menace” will return to cinemas and this time it’s not just in the USA.

Under the pretext of “Star Wars Day”, the unmistakable “May the 4th”, Lucasfilm announced the celebration of the 25th anniversary of “Episode I”, the first of the second trilogy, with a theatrical re-release. Tickets will be on sale at the usual places.

The sessions will only be on the weekend of May 4th and 5th and with an ‘extra’: an exclusive clip about “Star Wars: The Acolyte”, the next Disney+ series that arrives on June 4th and takes place approximately 100 years ago before “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”.

The first “Star Wars” film in 16 years, “The Phantom Menace” originally opened in theaters in May 1999.

Directed by George Lucas and starring Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best, Ian McDiarmid, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Pernilla August, the story showed how a Jedi Master called Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi -Wan Kenobi encounters a young slave with unusual powers who can bring balance to the Force: Anakin Skywalker, the future Darth Vader.
