A worldwide success, Pulp Fiction marked the history of cinema.

One of Quentin Tarantino’s most acclaimed films, pulp Fiction was responsible for a revolution in the seventh art. The first official screening of the feature film was made in 1994, at the Cannes Film Festival – and against all odds, it took home the Palme d’Or, beating the favorite, The Brotherhood is Red.

Coincidentally, that same year, Clint Eastwood was the president of the jury at the event. Among countless works watched, the actor/filmmaker had no doubt that Pulp Fiction was a special production. During a past interview with the American Film Institute, Eastwood recounted his experience with Tarantino’s work:

“We sat there and watched and it kind of drew everyone in. I was surprised to see that it was the Europeans on the jury who really started jumping… some of them turned around and said, ‘This is the best film. It’s the best film at this festival.’”

And he added:

“I didn’t jump, I was still weighing things in my head. The film was definitely interesting and exciting and came at a time when we needed some excitement. When they walked into the jury room, everyone was unanimous that this would be the film.”

In Pulp Fiction, we follow the story of Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield, two professional killers who work collecting money for Marsellus Wallace, a powerful gangster. Vega is then forced to take his boss’s girlfriend to see the city, fearing he will cross the line. Meanwhile, boxer Butch Coolidge gets into trouble for winning a fight he should have lost.

Winner of the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, the film stars Uma Thurman, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, John Travolta and more.
