Matthew López will be back as director and screenwriter, with collaboration and supervision from the author of the original book. Both will also executive produce the film alongside producers Berlanti Schechter Films. In addition to the protagonists, Uma Thurman, Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson and Stephen Fry are expected to reprise their roles.

In the original plot, Alex Claremont-Diaz (Zakhar), the first son of the US president. He’s the closest thing to a prince on the west side of the Atlantic. With her intrepid sister and Veep’s genius granddaughter, they form the White House Trio, a neat millennial marketing ploy for their mother, President Ellen Claremont.

His political duties have downsides – namely, when photos of a confrontation with his old enemy, Prince Henry (Galitzine), at a royal wedding are leaked to the tabloids and threaten American/British relations. The damage control plan: stage a fake friendship between the First Son and the Prince. As President Claremont begins her re-election bid, Alex finds himself embroiled in a secret relationship with Henry that could derail the campaign and bring down both nations.

During the release of the film responsible for “a huge increase” in Prime Video subscribers, according to Deadline, the director had already discussed the possibility of a sequel. “Even though Casey [McQuiston] never written one [segundo] book, I would write if there was a demand for it. What if Casey and Taylor [Zahkar Perez] and Nick [Galitzine] want to work on it, who am I to say no?”, he left it open.
